More Hot News for Fall/Winter 2007 and into 2008
Hello Cyber land, it’s the ol’ Line Doctor again. Well, this year has certainly been busy. Since August there have been some developments that I should tell you about. So let’s get to it.
First, there will be a pinstriper’s panel jam at the San Francisco Rod, Custom, and Motorcycle Show, January 11-13. It will be named in honor of my late mentor Cary Greenwood. The Cary Greenwood Memorial Panel Jam will be hosted by “East Coast Artie” Schilling, Mr. ‘J’, and Mike Fredericks. There will be many surprises in store, and at last check of entries, over 30 stripers will be on hand. Participants will receive:
- Free 3 day admission and parking pass to the show
- Commemorative t-shirt and decal from the event
- Special room rates at the host hotel (please book early)
There will be an artist’s auction on Sunday afternoon. Even if you can’t come, please send in a panel for the auction. Send the art work to Mark Juell, c/o Superior Auto Body, 640 N. First St., Dixon, CA 95620.

Next, during the recent SEMA Show, Bob Larivee of the Detroit Autorama, Gary Challice of the Toronto Performance World, and myself struck a deal to bring me to both shows, back to back, in March, 2008. I am looking forward to seeing all my friends from the Midwest and back East at the show. I will be signing books at Detroit and signing and selling my books at Toronto so please help the cause and come by and say HI and maybe buy a book or two at one of the shows. I am also looking for work at both shows. I will have my brushes with me, so if you have been trying to get some genuine Herb Martinez pinstriping on your vehicle for awhile, now’s your chance. |
At the SEMA Show I spoke with Pete Chapouris of So Cal Speed Shop about doing another workshop next year. The last workshop was poorly attended because of lack of advertisement about the location. Not this coming year. I am announcing that on September 20, 2008, there will be a basic pinstriping workshop at So Cal Speed Shop in Pomona. I am also announcing dates for my workshop in Livermore on April 5th and Oct. 11, 2008.
Also at the SEMA Show I was interviewed by M6 Turbo, an automotive related show presented by Metropole Television from France, and made final arrangements with Olaf Robrecht representing Chrom & Flammen and Art Scene International from Germany, and I also made arrangements for the upcoming EuroTour # 9 during June and July of 2008. Once again, 1Shot Sign Painters Enamel will be my advertising sponsor, as well as other companies from Germany and Switzerland. |

Last but not least, I got to see my old friend from the German Tuner Association, Andrea Pinkerton. Andrea started with Bola some years back, then moved up to be the European Representative for SEMA, and is now the General Secretary of ETO. It’s always great to see the friends who have helped me so much in Europe during the long months I am away from over there. If this news thing keeps up, this column might turn into a blog. Hope to see you at the events listed on my schedule page. Keep an eye on it as there are last minute postings all the time. |
